One of my favorite things to do while traveling the country has been talking with small business owners and shopping local. As I’ve said throughout the past year, I often find that small business owners have strong insights about their communities because they are so invested in their success.
In the past four months off the road, I’ve missed my routine of chatting with business owners and spending money in their shops, and I’ve been brainstorming ways to support small businesses from afar.
This new Saturday series allows you to virtually shop — and support — small businesses around the country. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
[Editor’s Note]: There are loads of small businesses and creators making amazing work all over the country. I started Saturday Shoutouts to send a little love their way since I can’t visit them in person (for now!). Please consider shopping or following along with these top-notch creatives.
ONE. Seacraft Vintage is a darling vintage shop in Kennebunk, Maine. They also sell some stock online via their store’s Instagram page.
TWO. Century Clay sells beautiful clay decor and jewelry. She sells her work on Etsy and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
THREE. The Tiny Tassel makes fun, colorful jewelry, accessories, and clothing. The shop is located in Charleston, South Carolina but she ships all over the country.
FOUR. Neverware Designs sells stunning jewelry that are instant conversation pieces. She sells her work on Etsy and is based in Atlantic, Iowa.
FIVE. Meg Made is a custom furniture shop in Chicago, Illinois that ships nationwide. They sell beautifully refurbished custom pieces, as well as rugs, lighting, furniture paint, and more.
SIX. Kallie Friesen is an illustrator from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She works with clients on custom illustrations and also has a fully-stocked Etsy shop.
SEVEN. Tree Fairfax sells gorgeous handmade leather goods using locally-sourced, high-quality materials. She is based in Roanoke, Virginia.
If you have or know of a small business from around the United States that you want to shoutout, let me know! It may be featured in an upcoming blog post as part of this new series. You can get in contact with me at wethevotersproject@gmail.com, subject line: Shoutout.
